Eckes-Granini acquires the French firm Les Vergers d’Alsace along with the Réa brand. This represents a major step forward into one of the largest fruit beverage markets in Europe.
The new Spanish subsidiary, Eckes-Granini Ibérica S. A. launches operations in Barcelona. Eckes-Granini holds a majority interest in this joint venture, in which the Spanish Grup de Distribucio Costa Brava S. A. (as of 2003 Damm S.A one of the leading breweries in Spain.), is also involved as a partner.
