Eckes-Granini receives EMAS recertification

Sustainability above standard - that's what Eckes-Granini stands for. This is demonstrated by the latest certification by the internationally recognized environmental management system EMAS.

Two of our national production subsidiaries successfully passed this year's environmental audit of the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS): Eckes-Granini Germany and Eckes-Granini Finland. Continuous improvement of our environmental management system and environmental performance in accordance with the "Eco-Audit" developed by the European Union has a long tradition at Eckes-Granini. The plant in Bröl was the first production plant in Europe to receive the award back in 1996. Eckes-Granini Germany has continued its voluntary environmental commitment ever since. This year, the independent environmental auditor EMAS reviewed the energy management systems of the plants in Bröl and Bad Fallingbostel and the sustainability and environmental protection efforts in purchasing of Eckes-Granini Germany in Nieder-Olm.

Two awards for environmental protection

Eckes-Granini Finland has the compliance of its environmental management system with EMAS requirements verified since 2015. As a result, it was the first food company in Finland to receive the EMAS certificate and is currently the only one with this distinction. The pursuit of sustainable development and the responsible use of resources have been an integral part of Eckes-Granini Finland's corporate philosophy for many years. The audit focuses primarily on innovative, environmentally friendly packaging and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

"Sustainability is deeply rooted in our corporate strategy," explains Tim Berger, CEO of the Eckes-Granini Group. "We want to make our actions for environmental protection verifiable and transparent for external parties. We are proud that we have succeeded in this again in the EMAS certification this year and that it shows us: We are on the right track."
