Turning rooftops into solar power

Investing in energy infrastructure at our production site in Denmark

Some investments are highly visible. Others quietly work in the background every single day.

At our production site in Ringe, Denmark, a new solar energy installation is putting existing rooftop space to work. Covering 4,178 m², more than half a football pitch, the project strengthens on-site electricity generation and forms part of our broader approach to energy infrastructure investments across Europe.

For Managing Director Mark Hemmingsen, the installation reflects a practical approach to improving energy infrastructure:

"We are pleased to see the solar installation now in operation. The project allows us to make productive use of rooftop areas that were already available while further expanding our on-site electricity generation capacity."

The installation was supported by an investment of approximately DKK 5 million and is expected to contribute around 8.4% of the site's annual electricity consumption.

From Idea to Operation

Bringing the project to life required extensive planning, technical assessments, permitting processes and installation work. After the final panels were installed, the system was commissioned and entered full operation.

Mads Østergaard, Technical Director at Eckes-Granini Denmark, highlights the collaborative effort behind the project:

"Reaching this point required considerable planning and commitment from many people. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to making the project a reality."

Today, the installation has an expected annual generation capacity of up to 712,050 kWh.

The project in Denmark is also part of a broader programme across Eckes-Granini's European production network, where investments in technologies such as solar installations, heat pumps and more energy-efficient production equipment are being implemented at selected sites.
