Business Year 2020

Eckes-Granini posts solid results / New course set for future growth

Eckes-Granini looks back on a challenging 2020 business year marked by the COVID-19 pandemic. With a turnover of 873 million euros, a volume of 843 million litres and earnings of 71 million euros, the Eckes-Granini Group achieved solid results.

Nieder-Olm. After an initially promising start to the first quarter of 2020, the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic led to a massive setback in the out-of-home business from March onwards. In almost all European countries, restaurants and hotels were completely closed for months due to the Corona restrictions. Accordingly, the Eckes-Granini Group recorded losses in out-of-home business of up to 50 % in some markets.
In the food retail segment, however, the Eckes-Granini Group was able to increase sales by 3 %, thus compensating at least in part for the drastic decline in the out-of-home business.
Tim Berger, CEO of the Eckes-Granini Group, is confident about the future: "The Corona pandemic will continue to accompany us in 2021. This year is all about setting the strategic, internal course for sustainable growth "after Corona".”
In the next five years, the Eckes-Granini Group will continue to develop and expand its strategic brands and existing channels in a targeted manner over the next five years and invest substantially in dynamic growth categories. There will be a clear focus on channels that promise profitable growth, especially e-commerce.
